Diedre E. Carreno

Deidre E. Carreno is known for her in-depth analysis of complex legal issues and the attention to detail that produces successful and cost-efficient results. She is active in the firm’s representation of government clients including litigation in State and Federal Court and agencies. She also handles collective bargaining and labor disputes.

Deidre has extensive experience with vested rights and retiree benefit disputes as well as compliance with open government laws. In addition, she has developed a special focus on education law including due-process disputes, school discipline and the provision of regular and special education services under both the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act and State regulations. In particular, she has developed policies and procedures in line with the Basic Education Program, including human capital management.

A graduate of Stonehill College and the Roger Williams University School of Law, she served as a law clerk for the City of East Providence where she assisted in matters of government, municipal law and litigation. She is admitted to practice in the State of Rhode Island and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, as well as the United States District Court for the District of Rhode Island and the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.  Deidre is also a member of the Government Lawyers Committee.
